I have always been fascinated by psychology and, in latter years, particularly in the EQ (Emotional Intelligence) aspect and how it can sometimes conflict with IQ. I have sometimes found that
those with lower IQ appear to have a better EQ than those with higher IQ! It has also always seemed to me that those with a high EQ are happier - more content - than those with a lower EQ. Since it seems that
those with high IQs are often prone to depression and other disatisfactions, it seemed to me possible that this may be associated with the lack of EQ in those of higher intelligence. Obviously this is a gross
- and anecdotal - generalisation. However, it made me wonder that if one of higher IQ studied EQ and perhaps was able to develop it, perhaps such people would be less unhappy and also better able to integrate with
a world that to them may often seem alien and strange. This is certainly how it has seemed to me. ...and in developing my EQ through use of various tools such as Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
I find that it has certainly made me more content and better able to interact. These EQ tools all seem to be about developing heightened self-awareness - perhaps EQ is a posh name for self-awareness?!
Anyway, part of my self-exploration means I am an absolute addict for anything that tests my personality - you know, those things you find on Facebook! I am collecting them to study at some stage.
More will appear here in due course...
